Why Entrepreneurs Find it So Hard to Articulate.

You have a million ideas for your business. Your mind keeps generating ideas, but you’re working overtime to make your body catch up with your head. The day goes by in a blur, and only half of what you wanted is accomplished by the end of the day.

Employees are frustrated, and you are frustrated with them. It feels like you’re doing their job, your own, and someone else’s too. Tempers flare, and often, the employees don’t even understand what they’re doing wrong. So, they quit. You are overwhelmed, and the end of the work day doesn’t bring the end of your stress. It’s no wonder scaling your business feels so difficult!

Your business is your life, and your life is your business. The stress level is incredible! Anxiety is an unwanted friend. Still, you can’t stop, but you don’t know what you’re missing.

The hardest thing to do is articulate when you have no idea where you are going. It’s kind of like setting sail, or embarking on a road trip, without knowing where to go. What does the end look like?

This isn’t the type of thinking that we’ve been taught in school. We’ve been taught  about goals, revenue, and achievements. These are all great: but they never really fulfill us the way we expect them too.

Learning to articulate and scale your business.

It doesn’t have to be so hard; you’re not alone. Instead of stressing and trying to do it all yourself, let your employees help. Sit down and create a company vision. Your vision should be clear, so that you can reverse engineer goals so that the whole team knows where the business is going. It’s like taking a cross country trip. You can look and see where you want to go, but you don’t have to have every step figured out– just the first. Only today’s. Your staff knows you have an ultimate vision.  Now  it’s time to plan the steps you’ll take to get there. It’s so much less stressful when you have clear, concise goals to meet that  others understand.

While you’re working on the vision, think about ways to engage the people who work for you. Isn’t everything easier when we’re all on the same page? Creating team building workshops and strengthening the communal bond in your company will go miles toward making your vision and plan work. Everyone should be invested in the company, but more than that, everyone should be invested in the sense of community.
